Tom and Emma’s Ashburton wedding

We hope you are ready! Because Emma and Tom's story of how they first met is a real-life rom-com and one we are so desperate to share, so here goes! It was the Spring of 2016 in London, a Wednesday to be exact, and the first day of Tom’s big OE when he met Emma. After flying into London that morning and dropping off his luggage at his older brother’s place, Tom was off to a local pub to catch up with his old mate Jack and a few of Jack’s friends where he was introduced to the lovely Emma. Not only was it Toms's first day in London but little did he know the person he just met would be his future wife, how cute is that!! Emma and Tom obviously hit it off, as they booked a holiday to Greece together for the following June and I’m gonna say it, the rest is history!

  • Fast forward a little, the OE is over and these two are enduring a year of long-distance which is no easy feat, but they did it, they did a little bit more travel with Tom popping the question in Thailand at an Italian restaurant (yes in Thailand) and eventually the pair moved to the Gold Coast. After a rough start trying to find work they packed up all of their belongings into a 1995 Corolla hatchback, hit the road, and started a 3-day road trip to Melbourne. Calling Melbourne home for a while it wasn’t until a global pandemic put the state into lockdown for 7 months that they decided it was time to come home to New Zealand and start the next chapter of their adventure together, they brought a section, built a house and planned a wedding, and here we are!

Emma and Tom planned their Ashburton wedding in-between lockdowns and moving countries. They chose to have their wedding in Ashburton at a local Ashburton wedding venue called Trotts’ Garden and took advantage of the beautiful setting by having their wedding ceremony by the pond underneath a large wooden geometric arch, it was gorgeous! Their wedding photos were captured in the grounds of Trott’s Garden making the most of the grounds of this stunning venue. The couple wanted to share their day with all who could make it but sadly due to COVID many of their wedding guests from overseas could not make it over to their Ashburton wedding so they chose to have their ceremony and speeches filmed by us so they could share a snippet of their day with them.

Now their reception was amazing, they really made the most of the stunning setting by having a marquee reception on the grounds of Trott’s Garden. Finally, these two are not only intrepid travelers they are apparently crazy on the d-floor so we found out haha! They spent the night dancing it up with their guests and just having the best time. We are so happy that after all of the travel, long-distance, and pandemic craziness these two got to tie the knot and really celebrate everything they have achieved together. congrats Emma and Tom!
