Matt and Lucy's Christchurch wedding

Let's start this beautiful wedding blog off by titling the gallery ”The Adventures of Lucy and Matt” because over the last few years, Lucy and Matt have lived an adventure fuelled life spending most weekends out adventuring in the great outdoors, climbing, tramping, and just living it up. So, after Matt popped the question while tramping up a Mountain with Lucy somewhere in Canterbury, they have been busy not only adventuring but planning their dream Christchurch wedding at Bangor Farm! To add to the fun, with any spare time they have, Lucy and Matt have also been restoring an old ex-Christchurch Metro Bus (which they fondly named Businghampalace) into a gorgeous house-on-wheels in which they are planning on moving into and calling home after they return from their honeymoon visiting the Tekapo/Wanaka region.

  • We have caught up with Lucy and Matt many times leading up to their wedding day, capturing their adventure session at Castle Point in Canterbury, which was too much fun and such an amazing spot, a must-visit for sure! We caught up over many Zoom calls, learning more about the details of their day and closely followed their bus restoration on Instagram. We feel like we have known these two for so long and have built a real friendship so of course, we were both excited to be capturing the next chapter of their adventures together!

Lucy got ready alongside her bridal party at her family home just out of Christchurch and Matt shared a few drinks with his groomsmen while getting ready at his parent’s house in the Canterbury Hills.

Lucy and Matt chose to get married at Bangor Farm in Darfield in an intimate ceremony with close friends and family. The weather gods were not playing ball but being the keen adventurous people they are, Lucy and Matt of course had a plan B option for a rainy wedding ceremony venue, and boy, was it gorgeous!

The rain was relentless and did not give up but from the photos, we captured of their Christchurch wedding, this was not a concern for the couple in the slightest, who was happy to drag their bridal party out into the wild weather and capture phoots in the grounds of Bangor Farm in between bursts of rain. On returning from wedding photos the couple cozied up by the open wood fire in the Reception area of their venue before laughing and dancing the night away under the giant chandelier hanging from Bangor Farms reception hall roof.

Thank you so much, Lucy and Matt, for entrusting us with capturing all of these special moments, you both were honestly a blast and we cannot wait to see the final touches of your bus reno!
