Harry and Anna's Nelson Wedding

Anna and Harry celebrate their wedding at Fairfield House with wedding photos in the Nelson gardens

If there were ever a wedding that was centered around the heart and soul of a community, this would be the one! We hope you are ready for the warm fuzzy's because this wedding had it on tap and after such a crazy eventful year worldwide, we were ecstatic beyond words to be celebrating something truly special, the wedding of Anna and Harry!

  • Anna has very fond memories of her childhood, growing up in the Nelson suburb of Stoke, going to the nearby schools, and spending many happy days bouncing between neighbours’ houses through the secret gate that the family and neighbours’ built for easy commutes from one garden to the next (the perfect shortcut for BBQ’s with the neighbours) so it was only fitting to start her wedding day at her childhood home surrounded by her parents and her siblings, plus a few visitors popping in from next door to share some kind words, we loved this little community

Rarely do you get a family this adorable, but honestly, they went above and beyond to make this day special for Anna and Harry, and we loved that! Anna’s mother, Marg, surprised guests by taking on the job of the celebrant, she was amazing, and the ceremony was not only a dreamy, intimate courtyard wedding held on the grounds of Fairfield house, but it was also so heartfelt with a lot of laughter along the way.

Harry’s mother did a beautiful reading that left no dry eyes, and as the ceremony ended, mother nature applauded with a freak shower that lasted only minutes, but, boy, did she try!

In Anna’s words, when she first described what she envisioned her wedding day to look like, she mentioned she wanted a relaxed and fun day where they could really enjoy the company of their friends and family for the day, with an emphasis on “crazy amounts of flowers”, that is what we loved about their day. Their reception felt like a large family dinner, all under one roof, it was fun, loud and had a great atmosphere, and this was the running theme throughout their whole day.

Photos were captured relatively local taking full advantage of Fairfield House’s central city location, meaning we could steam through some fun wedding photos that they could love for a lifetime and still have time for cake and more banter with mates. And Anna’s crazy flowers, yes, there were plenty, and they were crazy, crazy but beautiful wildflowers covering the ceremony’s arch and, in their bouquets and buttonholes, just the way we love them.

A global pandemic (COVID-19) couldn’t cancel this duo’s big day however it did mean that many of Harry’s loved ones from the UK couldn’t make it over, that’s when Anna surprised us all by secretly organising for Harry’s family and friends from all over the UK to leave little video messages for the couple which was played over speakerphone after the speeches. It was hard not to let your eyes leak with all of the emotions that filled Fairfield House that night, we loved this little surprise, and it really brought the whole room together.

Anna and Harry were carefree and loved up, and they surrounded themselves with family and friends to make their own little community. Boy was it a party. We love documenting these special moments. This pandemic has made us appreciate, even more than ever, the importance of living in the moment and enjoying the goodness in people and in the moments they share with us. Thank you and congratulations again to the loveliest of crazy floral-loving couples we ever met!
